why is it that when we see someone visibly hurting or upset, we often pose the question – what is wrong? yes, it may be indubitably clear that something is wrong. but what about what is right? often times, it becomes almost too easy to become bogged down in one’s problems – and even more so when you are asked for the brief recap. giving much more time to wallow in whatever initially caused the hurt. replaying the drama and the chaos – giving it undeserved attention.
let’s do something new… how about asking someone who appears to be in pain – what is right? if nothing else, you will have asked a totally unexpected question. but. it just might help the person consider the good in their life. it just might pull another from the darkness of despair. it just might bring a smile to someone’s face.
